Tumbling Bay Ponders - The Colour Grey

If you asked me ten years ago that one of my favourite colours would be grey, I would have never believed you.  You see, back in the mid-naughties when I was a young teenager listening to Greenday and  Blink 182, colour and black were the main things to describe my style.  I wore it all.  Chains attached to dark jeans, black, band name hoodies and bangles.  Lots of lots of bangles filled with colour.  A bit of a fashion car crash, but I have to say I thought I was the bees knees. The ultimate rock chick with the passion for fashion.  Avril Lavigne had nothing on me.

Roll on ten years, and things couldn't be more different.  As I sit here at a pub watching rugby with my boyfriend, I'm wearing a pair of smart, blue jeans, red, high heeled pumps and a long, cashmere grey jumper.  Apart from a dash of colour, I feel like my every day uniform is a grey as an English Summer.  But I don't think that's anything to feel embarrassed about.  As you all know, I love fashion.  In fact, I tend to be fairly brave with certain choices, but when there's a mad dash to get dressed, grey is my ultimate choice.

Let's look at the facts.  Grey goes with anything.  You can team a grey jumper with any brightly coloured, skinny jeans and you look instantly fabulous.  You can wear a grey suit and its instantly more powerful than a black.  You can wear a grey dress and it suits most occasions much more than the classing LBD.  Grey is the new black - modest, stylish, demure and much easier to clean.  It is not getting the attention it deserves and I want to change this, one grey jumper at a time.

Brow zings by Benefit

I've never bothered with brows.  Having naturally dark hair, I've never seen he benefit with shaping and filling - just making sure they're perfectly arched and tidy.
But with the infestation of bushy-browed models, I've realised now more than ever just how important it is to keep your brows full (even if you already have them).
So when I went shopping today, I bought Brow zings by Benefit.  This tiny kit (RRP £22) comes in three shades - light, medium and dark.  It is the all-in-one brow perfecting kit, ideal for shaping and defining.
As well as the pigmented wax for shaping, and the natural-shaded powder for setting, this handy kit comes complete with discreet tweezers, hard angle brush and a blending brush, all packed into a mirrored compact.
Even the lightest shade is quite dark, so this is the one I went for.
I'd definitely recommend this.  It is the only product you need for perfect brows.

Lipstick Queen - The Look of Love

There are so many make-up sets out there that you buy because your ultimate favourite colour is in there.  You wear it religiously until there's nothing left, and the rest of the lipsticks in the set?  Well, they're discarded.  Gone.  Forgotten.  Purely because the colour is too bright, not the right tone, or just not your style.
Not so with the Lipstick Queen Look of Love set.  This amazing collection of pinky nudes is probably the only set out there where you will use all three products, and not one of them will be left out.
The entire set is created out of colours that will suit pretty much everyone, especially if you're not a brave lipstick wearer (don't worry - it takes a while for all of us).
Top left: Butterfly Ball Smitten, Top right: Saint Pinky Nude Lipstick, Centre: Oxymoron Honest Politician

As it states on the box, falling in love brings out the natural, pink beauty in your lips and cheeks, and this set is perfect for enhancing it.
Oxymoron Honest Politician: this is incredibly versatile because it can be used on lips and cheeks.  Dab on for the perfect pink flush.  Creamy and light, it's the perfect base.
Saint Pinky Nude:  a creamy, romantic pink colour.  Perfect for day-to-day wear.
Butterfly Ball Smitten:  A light formula perfect for on its own, or sweeping over another colour to add an entrancing pink glow.
I've only had this in my possession for a couple of hours, and Honest Politician is already my handbag beauty secret weapon.

Pick of the Week - Forever 21

Channel this season's Monochrome and colourful pastels at the same time with this outfit from Forever 21.
Having fallen in love with the store when in New York last month, I have to say that no one does the latest trends at affordable prices like Forever 21.  Treat yourself to a whole new Spring wardrobe with prices that won't break the bank.

Pink Eyeshadow ~ Girly Barbie Doll Look

One of my favourite make-up looks has always been vivid, neon eyeshadow.  Bright blues, pinks, yellows and greens are a must have in my make-up bag, but unfortunately these aren't daily 'looks'.  If you're having a girly moment, here is how to wear pink eyeshadow in a super girly make-up look, but for every day.
Your must-haves are these eyeshadows by Barry M
Three wonderful shades of pink in (starting from the top) 85, 58 and 3.
  • Firstly, start off by sweeping Barry M Dazzle Dust in no.3 over your eyelids.  This is a very light pinky brown shade and will act well as the base colour.
  • Sweep Barry M Dazzle Dust in no.58 into the crease.  With its slightly more pigmented colour, this will add definition into the pink.
  • Finally, blot Barry M Dazzle Dust in no.85 at the outer corners of your eyes, as well into the crease.  This last pink shade is incredibly bright, so if you want a more intense look, go over your eyes once more.
I decided to go for a sublte pink, which can be worn day to day.
Extra tools you might need -
  • Mac lipstick in Viva Glam Nicki
  • Bobbi Brown Blusher in Peony
  • Benefit Highlighter in High Beam
  • Nars Tinted Moisturiser in Finland
  • Lancome Hypnose Star Mascara

Lipstick Queen - Dancing Queen Set

School is out.  Well, work is out, and to celebrate the new found freedom for the next week and a half, I took my weekly trip to Space NK for a look around at their festive treats.  Like most of us, I've more than spent my Christmas budget, so wasn't too excited when I saw the new Lipstick Queen set sparkling like the ultimate Christmas treat right in front of me.  There's nothing to get you down like the empty pocket feeling on the most excisting time of the year.
Lucky for me, my boyfriend stepped in, and a true knight in shining armour, he even let me have this before Christmas Day.
The trio definitely live up to their expectations.  Like most lipstick lovers would know, Lipstick Queen has established a great base with stunning lipsticks with personality.  The Dancing Queens are exactly that.  A delicious threesome of seduction, playfulness and tempation.  It truly must be party season.
You have:
Cha Cha ~ glossy, sparkly wine
Electric Slide ~ glistening, sultry red
The Hustle ~ glimmering, understated nude
If you're thinking of spending any money, make sure it's on this.  It's every lipstick lover's ideal party date.
